Faces of Fiona #31 -Scuba Divers
A very blustery, stormy on and off day. So we were off for the Aquarium this morning with Fiona. It was toddler day -how good is that? She walked around the arts and crafts room and walked out, preferring to dip her hands in all the tide pools and suck the salt water, and then the demo at the big tank was targeted at Toddlers. She took off her shoes and socks to sit on the carpet (just like at her preschool) and then took off her wet shirt and mostly just wanted to join the Scuba Diver with the red cucumber in the tank. Fun.
Then I got to go to my lovely book club while Fiona took her nap and played with Boppa. The book this month was Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson. Most of us really loved this haunting, brutal, spare Norwegian story. We think the author doesn't reveal any more about his life than the private characters he writes about. Gorgeous descriptions. About solitude, events in the past, father and son. I read it at our cabin in the woods - perfect. I highly recommend it.
Tomorrow H and I are flying to Chicago for 5 nights - a little getaway! Why Chicago? It's "our town" - we grew up there, in different suburbs, and met after college when I was living and working there with roommates from the U of Michigan and he was in medical school, U of Illinois. Our first apartment was in Old Town. Son #1 was born there. H hasn't been there for a long time so we are just "sneaking" in and out, staying downtown and doing art and opera and theater. Will not have a computer with me so may not blip til I get back. Unless there's something good on the iphone. :-)
Hope you have a good week......
