Solace in the Wind by Max Patte
Overnighted in Wellington, and my run this morning was along the Wellington waterfront out to the start of Evans Bay Parade, and then back to the hotel. I have seen this sculpture many times before and this morning I decided to make it my blip for the day.
English sculptor, Max Patte, works as senior sculptor for Weta Workshop, a major contributor to the making of Lord of the Rings. He is said to have conceived the idea for this sculpture over a meal of fish and chips and beer.
It is 2 metres high, made from iron, and leans as if into one of Wellington's famous winds. It was put in this place, beside Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, in 2008.
