Captain Pugwash has still not got the hang of sailing, he will never catch Cut Throat Jake with his boat like that.

I used to love Captain Pugwash when it was shown during the 70's. I was shocked when much later people told me the programme was full of double entendres.

IT IS A MYTH!

He was called Master Mate, not Master Bates, and Seaman Staines never appeared in the show. I was so delighted when I discovered this (thank you wikipedia) and could once again delight in the innocence of childhood TV.

But as for the The Magic Roundabout....

The wind was really blowing through the rigging, masts, ropes, string and other paraphernalia associated with sailing (you can see one of the masts sticking out on the right of a boat stranded on the mud as the tide is out) Sometimes it is a very pleasant tinkling, occasionally a low moaning. Today it sounded like wild horses in catastrophic pain - not pleasant at all.
