cultivate thankfulness

After I blipped yesterday I had quite an adventure with friends that extended to the wee hours of the morning. So I figured I better include it in today's blip.
After I got off work I had the urge to do something adventurous or at least social. So at 11 pm I phoned Vinh and headed over to the international village. We ended up teaching each other different languages. I learn some Vietnamese and I taught Vinh a bit of Arabic. Then when I got home at 2 am, my friend in Duhok wanted to Skype with me. Since I was up and already awake I agreed. Ended up being the best Skype dates I have ever had. I got to meet all of Farzad's friends and speak to a handful of them in Arabic-they were shocked needless to say. In the course of a couple hours I spoke English, Arabic, Persian, and Vietnamese, it was all a blur. Later that day Lydia and I went shopping to VS and bought some unmentionables and had some well needed friend time. The best part of my day however was being able to talk with H on the phone. We had an interesting conversation regarding the lack of community and the tumultuous government he experiences on a daily basis in Baghdad. I am so sick of having lagged phone calls with shitty call quality, I just want to be with him. I can't beleive its been 2 months since I have seen him... feels like a lifetime.
