Learning curves!

I bought this camera about5 years ago after producing lovely images on a Fuji 600 (my first camera)- thinking I might do even better by upgrading.
I was beginning to get to grips with it when Bang! my whole world turned upside down and I hadn't touched it again until about a month ago-and guess what-I've forgotten EVERYTHING about it!
However I shall persevere and today have ordered a 70-300mm lens for it in the hope that spending more money will force me to learn-even the manual gives me a headache as I just ain't technically minded :(
