Eastern State Penitentiary

Visited this fascinating place today. It was built approximately 140 years ago and is the world's first true penitentiary, a prison designed to inspire penitence-or true regret- in the hearts of criminals.

It is truly amazing. Although the prison's history is dark and at times cruel, the place now is beautiful in it's ruin.

It's a definite must see if ever visiting Philadelphia, PA.
