"Oh Deer!" (red and roe)
The weather was fine all day. I was leading the "Oh Deer" walk and had to make a last minute change to the route because the boardwalks at Greenlee Lough were underwater. Despite the change we had a realy good time.
At Gallowshieldrigg Farm we saw the farmed red deer. The stag roared twice for us and some of the does came quite near. At Greenlee Farm we heard a fascinating lecture about roe deer (and bits about the other 5 species living in the UK). The talk was followed by venison casserole and then sponge cake for lunch. Mmmm.
This photo was taken while we watched the red deer. I love the concentration on S's face. As you know I love candid portraits so this was always going to win over the image of the stag.
Tomorrow is the fungi walk and the Social. The Festival will soon be over!
