No Entry
One of the joys of living in the countryside is is all the animals, both wild and farmed, that can be seen in the vicinity of our house. It is always great to see the new born lambs in the field at the rear of the house or the young calves looking over the fence at us. Rabbits, Pheasants, Deer, Hedgehogs, mice and voles are a few of the other creatures we see.
However, many of them have a downside. The Rabbits ate all our flowers, mice invaded the hut and dined on the bird food and the pheasant would wake us up at the crack of dawn with his cry.
The hill sheep should have to be added to this list. These are sheep not kept in fields but allowed to roam on open areas of hillside and along the seashore. At this time of year they tend to take up residence on the grass in front of house, which means we have to keep he gate closed at all times or they would devour most things in the garden. The current flock seem to have got used to me chasing them away and understand they must not enter the garden when the gate is open. This is despite the fact that there is lots of luscious green grass in the garden.
This particular sheep didn't seem to appreciate the unwritten understanding of no entry for sheep!
