At rest after the storm
5am flashing lightning, roaring thunder, moderate rain.
The morning storm is uncharacteristic but that is two Saturdays in a row now. Running was out and swim squad is cancelled in storms so a rest in was allowed today.
I went out to potter in the front garden, noted how quickly a rose bud opens (from bud to open bloom this morning), spotted this fly at rest on a jacaranda bloom that had been blown down in the storm, but marvelled even more at the baby snake and the troupe of insects that had started at it. I took quite a few shots but the dark snake and tiny insects were too difficult to shoot, but the insect warfare that had started was amusing, for me.
I assume a bird dropped the snake while flying over, if they are clever they might spot it and it will disappear again soon. I don't like to think about there being a mummy snake around here!
