It's all Greek to me

Went to the Cypriot capital today, Nicosia, the last divided capital in Europe.

We took a wrong turn when we got there and wasted 15-20 minutes walking the wrong way before turning round and going back then wandering round the old parts that were pretty much closed off when we were last there, then stumbled across the main street we were searching for in the first place. Well all the signs and maps were in Greek!

Went across the border and into the Turkish held north, but sadly didn't take any pictures as it really didn't feel safe to take out the camera. All around the shopping area there were groups of men wandering around eyeing you up and down, looking at your pockets and bags and constantly looking back at you after they walked past. I didn't say anything to Mrs P or the kids but they noticed it too, Pesky asked why those men kept staring at her and looking at her bag. It would be a brave bunch of Turks that take on a 6'4" Dundonian. When I heard Pesky had said that I knew it was time to leave.

Back on the Greek side no gangs, everyone happy and felt nice and safe, even wandering round old back streets where you would get a nod from the occasional Cypriot or a beep of the horn or wave if you moved out of the way to let them pass in their car. A tale of two cities.

We walked for hours (4) and Mrs P twisted her ankle but other than the Turkish side we had a great time.
