That was the week that was.
Yup that was our week. A trip down to London (First Class, East Coast Rail) top Russell Square hotel and two booked West End shows.
First day down we had a little visit to the British Library (TBH is a big book person and I've been known to read a little) and my highlight of that visit was an exhibition of work by photographer Michael Katakis. Insipring pictures full of emotion.
Our second day was going to be rounded off with a visit to "Ghost the Musical" but before that we took the "tourist day" option and jumped on an open top tour bus. Not too many great pics came from that due to the roadworks and stop-start bus movement (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!). Back to "Ghost the Musical". It wouldn't have been my first choice (and wasn't) but I was pleasantly surprised. More by the set and the special effects than by the music and performers TBH but I did enjoy it.
Day three didn't have many photo opportunities as we had matinee tickets for Stomp and were hoping to get tickets for an evening show. Plus TBH found a book shop that also sold Rackham prints and I found a shop that sold old maps (we are a weird couple, I know). Stomp was brilliant even if it did start late. Not Stomp's fault more the fault of the teachers of the millions of kids that turned up late (and then had to be "toileted"). Funny and musical and inventive. Our evening show was "Rock of Ages". Much expected and it delivered! A great end to a great day.
Day four and we were on the 2 o'clock train. but before that we took in the "Foundling Museum". A truly humbling and emotional place that everyone should visit.
