Dusk

A bit of a blurry snap - Shotgun II coming back into Granton just before 6pm. Ian and his family. My own plans for a sail came unstuck. An ingress of water. Yes, an ingress. A bad thing in a car, or house, or even in your boots, but a whole lot more worrying in a boat. And yet everyone you speak to says that it's to be expected. True enough, I've got used to giving the engine bilge a pump every couple of weeks as the prop shaft does weep a little. And I hadn't done it for weeks. Pumping, that is.
Frank, the Sailing Secretary said, just fill it up with water and see where it's coming out. Good advice, which I shall take if it's still afloat next weekend.
