Mother and Daughter in D.C.

I'm back in Washington, D.C., staying with this former student and daughter and partner. They had a barbecue in the back yard for me today, and three former students came, all with their beautiful babies. We talked about going to the Occupy D.C. rally, which must have been very exciting--it was a march followed by a rally at the new Martin Luther King, Jr. monument. Would have been a terrific photo op. But we couldn't get organized, get all the babies organized, and get out. After we ate--salmon, potato salad, baked beans, and cake--we all felt sleepy, the babies fell asleep, and we decided to let the politics of the world go on as it will, without us on this Saturday.

There is wonderful news all over the world. Occupy Wall Street has ignited a huge swell of protest, and it has spread to other countries now. People everywhere are sick of the banks and corporations and their warmongering profit-taking at the cost of human services. It's about time.
