The big reveal
Thus starts the catch up having been unable to update whilst on Iona...
In 10 years of visiting Iona this trip has been the first where I've seen the abbey without its scaffolding. It's beautiful, and I'd never realised that the tower has a subtle clock face. I'm looking forward to taking some decent images with the 'real' camera to get onto Alamy.
The morning started dull and necessitated porridge, then brightened up beautifully as mid-day approached. We walked into the village for milk with a thought to going out again after lunch, but the clouds had already started to close in as we walked back.
Instead I made soup and bread for lunch and have spent much of the day working on an MC Escher jigsaw puzzle. It may well be my Everest. I also managed to get through a chapter of my public affairs textbook. I made a promise that I wouldn't bring too much of my work brain on holiday but I think I'm managing to find a healthy balance.
Speaking of balance, I think that a scone OR cheese rule is needed, felt rather full by the end of yesterday. Though not so full that I'm not looking forward to the haggis that's in the oven right now...
