End of an Era
Went to an orchard just out of Blackheath to photograph the owner who is selling after a lifetime there. The orchard sells apples and juice to the public and has done since 1919.
This is Graham, who is the third generation to have owned and operated it.
I would like to have photographed him sitting atop a pile of apples (he's pretty limber for an old feller), but it's the wrong time of year.
The place is a photographer's dream, with packing sheds and ancient machinery including a fifty year old tractor which is still in operation.
The new owner was there learning the ropes, and I have some nice photos of them together, but I think Graham deserves one on his own.
Thanks Cymbeline for teeing it up, and just in the nick of time.
