A slice of Lesley's life

Still the birthday boy

Birthdays these days last much longer than when I was a lass. Day two of J's birthday weekend and he still hasn't had his actual birthday yet. I don't know. Colder, crisper morning that actually felt like autumn but bright and with the promise of a little sun so we took a walk down to the river. Not sure how they've managed to avoid being dragged down there before, as it is one of our favourite walks, but it was the first time for my folks. A lovely long stroll I think best describes the level of activity until we came across this little park and this avenue of trees. I was drawn to the lines and started taking pictures. J was drawn to the resemblance to a running track (?) and started running. Inevitably he asked Grandpa to time him*. Good for us all to blow away the cobwebs and get some fresh air as my brother and family were heading over for Sunday lunch and, as we thought, there hasn't been a whole heap of leaving the house going on since. Well, unless you count the various ball play in the garden though I sacrificed the glory of goal-scoring to be official photographer. I know, I'm too good to them.

Roasts have been eaten, both kids have blown out candles, opened presents and had happy birthday sung to them (again -and still neither has had a birthday!). Now all our guests have gone and we are settled onto the sofas with pizza, a birthday present movie (that may or may not turn out to be seasonal - The Nightmare Before Christmas) and the Sunday papers. A pre-lunch walk is such a good idea.

I'm afraid it's been so busy around here I have hardly had time to glance at blip. I hope everyone has had good weekends and I'll look forward to dropping in on your journals.

For the record and for if you read this in the future J and are still essentially the same person - you ran each length (one end of the trees to the other) in 30 seconds and it's the park opposite the brewery. Off you go now and leave a comment as to how long it takes when you read this :-) xx
