Making Strides

Woke up early today and went down to the beach for the American Cancer Society's Long Island Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Ashley, Liz, Vicky, Cass, Liz, Jenn, Madeline, and Ally all came with me. The beach was packed with people walking in memory of people they lost to cancer, in support of those fighting it, and in celebration of those who beat it. It was a great event that I am glad to have been a part of again this year.

The walk is about 5 miles and this fence is the turning point, marking the end of the path in one direction and letting walkers know that they are halfway there. Every year this fence is filled with the memories of people who are or were fighting breast cancer. Some items are tokens of survival; others are memories of lost loved ones.

People wear all kinds of t-shirts; they have some fun with it too, wearing slogans that say "Save Second Base" or "Rack Pack."

Good morning. It's 1:10 in the afternoon. I already blipped (two days in a row might I add and on time), and I think it's time to take a nap.

Peace out cub scouts.
