Aubergine...

..please not eggplant - no offense meant to anyone reading this in the US or Australia but has several proper names!

Solanum melongena was the origional Arabic name.

Apparently the French name Aubergine actually means a type of Peach.

After checking out Dr. Hessayon's text I notice that Wikipedia also notes these facts however title's the listing as eggplant - very unimpressed.

What is impressive however is that it is mid October and the polytunnel looks like it still has a few more of these to churn out.
