Glacier

This is the hugely impressive glacier that borders the icefields parkway road that links Jasper to Lake Louise in Canada. There are notices in the car park that explain how much the glacier has shrunk in recent times. It used to occupy the land that is now the car park.

The tiny rectangular shape in roughly mid picture is one of the special tracked tour buses that are allowed to go on to the glacier. This gives an indication of the scale of the glacier..........but there is no denying it is in substantial retreat.

A hugely impressive visit, as was the drive from Jasper to Lake Louise on a near empty road, in glorious sunshine, with even more glorious snow covered Rocky Mountain scenery with the snow right up to the edge of the road. Absolutly stunning drive.
