Carrion crow on the left, and Hooded Crow (hoodie) on the right. In some parts of the UK, you'll only find one or the other type. Around here is a boundary area, where the two closely related species are found, and often pair up - as these two have done.
Photo taken from the bird hide at Udale Bay, on the North side of the Black Isle. Spent a couple of hours in there this afternoon, and met a nice lady birdwatcher from Rosemarkie. The hide's not close enough to the birdlife to obtain shots that fill the frame, even if you have the likes of a 600mm lens (which I don't!). But there are still plenty of ducks; geese; swans; waders, and others to be seen.
