Terns

We have had a flock of Terns following the ship ever since we arrived here in Congo but usually they stay to far away to get any decent shots with my little point-and-shoot camera. Tonight I noticed a few birds were resting on the railings of the heli-deck so I quietly went up there in the dark and edged my way towards them. I was expecting them to fly away at any moment but they didn't even seem to notice me! When I took this I was close enough to have reached out and touched them... a really great feeling to be able to enjoy them up close like that. One of them had a ring on its leg... I wonder where it started its journey down to Africa?!
