Ba-Ba - October Origins

It's been a little while since I've had chance to blip another October Origins entry.

Meet Ba-Ba! ;o)

Ba-Ba is one of my oldest friends!

Ba-Ba was my dolly I would cling on to when I was a dwt!*

Ba-Ba actually started out life as Sooty's mate Sweep, but like most childhood dollies, I kinda wore the fur off him carrying him everywhere.

His squeaker gave up years ago.

He was given a new coat by my grand mother at some point. And it's kinda why I chose this for my October Origins blip.

The memories I associate with Ba-Ba are nearly all with my grand parents. Especially my Nana and Ampa, my mothers parents.

I used to love the fact me and my brother would go and stay with them when my parents wanted us out from under their feet now (I know this now!).

My grand parents used to live in the miners terraces in Tonypandy, and going there always seemed like a great adventure. The house was so tiny compared to my parents modern one in Tonyrefail.

One of the best things I remember was my grand father used to make the most amazing chips and fried chicken .. how far away from the PC brigade of today!

My grand parents had an enormous garden, that had no end of places to have adventures. There were sheds and green houses that needed defending from whatever was attacking us. Brilliant memories.

Both my grand parents were the most gentle and wonderful people you could ever wish to meet. One of the sad facts of growing up is your time with them is so brief.

There are a million questions I would love to ask them now about how they grew up, about the war, about industrial Rhondda.

I still have a connection with my dads parents as he still works on the same allotment in Llwynypia that he did when he was kid helping his dad, or Grancha and Gramma as they were to me.

Hopefully I will get some October Origins in the next few days, before the final run in to the Wedding starts a week today!
