Celebration

At this very moment, the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is back on Israeli soil. This morning on my way to work all the streets were flanked by flags and banners to celebrate his release.

Israelis are kind of one big family, everyone cares about every soldier. I can't imagine another country were the entire population would be so engaged in the fate of one soldier. It's difficult for me to understand the emotional attachment of everyone. But it's nice in a weird way.
