More drumming

Made it out to tots this morning. Eventually. We were pretty late....

Got Ben dressed in the following way - told him I'd moved his clothes into his own set of drawers in his bedroom so he could choose what to wear! Worked a treat. And he doesn't look too bad either. Had to help him with his tshirt, and balancing while he got his trousers on. And he's still struggling with socks bless him!

We were late though, as usual, to tots. But no mind! Ben rode his bike most of the way there but was a bit tired by the time we arrived. I'm not surprised, given how late he went to bed last night. We managed to get a lift home as neither of us could face the walk back by then. He made a really pretty leaf at tots, it is basically two pieces of sticky-back plastic with a sugar-paper leaf outline filled in with bits of red and orange and yellow tissue paper! Pure genius! No glue, no mess, and a colourful pretty leaf to stick in the window :) I might make some more with him!

Ben's been drumming again over lunch. At least he's eating in between drumming. Mainly apple. Still, it's something. Off to the shops in a few minutes, start stockpiling birthday party food for Sunday.... got a rough idea now of how many to expect now! And I need to get party bag bits, and a present for pass-the-parcel, and some wrapping paper or tissue paper to wrap it in... and bits to go in between the layers of paper... stuff I like doing, and which doesn't take much energy. And maybe even Ben can help, if he doesn't see what the present is to begin with!

I was SOO tired by bedtime last night. Gave up and shoved all my dirty dishes in the dishwasher last night. Been loathe to do that while it's just been me and Ben, we don't get through enough crockery to justify it really but I was so sleepy-tired and there was drying paint everywhere that I just gave in!

Some fellas from church came round yesterday evening to give the fresh plaster a coat of watered down white paint, to seal it and stop it from giving out dust. It means when we do get round to decorating (not high on priority lists tbh!) the paint won't just peel off. There was just enough white paint in the tub that, when the tub was filled up with water, it was roughly the right ratio of paint to water and was just enough to do all the walls that needed it!

Of course Ben stayed up while they painted, and once everyone had gone he managed to watch one episode of Bob the Builder, had most of a bowl of cereal, and declared he was tired - he went to bed so quickly. He really was tired! So was I...

Next on the list is Ben's bedroom ceiling - that is the last thing to do in there, if you ignore the fireplace. Which I think for the time being just needs cleaning up properly.

The countdown to Steve coming home has begun. Monday has been and gone. We're well into Tuesday. Just Wednesday and Thursday to get through, and he'll be home Friday!


Hopefully I'll stay in a better mood today (have been a bit fed up with the diabetes etc over the past couple of days) so might actually get a chance to sit down and reply to a few more comments from Friday :D
