Nature and it's (un)beauty.
In a bit of a mood.
Apparently natural doesn't necessarily mean beautiful. I'm in hell with my hayfever at the moment because of the natural change in seasons bringing spring my way. Beautiful to look at. But the hayfever is anything but.
Cue antihistamines.
Took Master Four Year Old to the playground. Everything around us is simply stunning. Get the rugrat on the swing. Give him a few pushes to get his momentum going. Walk by to take some photos of his face as he's delightfully swinging away. In front of all the other mothers at the playground, he loudly calls out, "Mummy! You've got your period again. There's a red spot on your butt. Let's get you home and changed".
MORTIFIED.
Yes, thank you, Mother Nature. Reminding me unexpectedly of the natural, and un-lovely processes a woman's body goes through.
This didn't sit so well with the other mothers. Apparently it's bad parenting for my four year old son to know about these things. Because, you know, there's clearly nothing natural about being open and honest with one's child when they ask questions upon confrontation of said natural processes.
I'm pretty sure my numerous visible tattoos and piercings are also looked upon negatively. There's also nothing natural about being ME, it would seem.
So that's why I chose to blip this photo. This rather un-pretty face is actually part of a traditional Indonesian string instrument I somehow acquired some years ago. It's made of entirely natural materials. Wood. Pig hide. Shells. And the strings on it are metalic, which when you think about it, is natural too. It is made by nature. And all the materials were hand crafted.
Does't make it pleasant to look at though, does it.
(The sound it makes is simply beautiful, for the record)
Tomorrow is another day. In theory, going to the beach. Wonder what other un-beauty we'll be exposed to in another natural environment. Enough whinging and whining.
"Do you have the time to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once?
I am one of those melodramatic fools,
Neurotic to the bone, no doubt about it."
