Grand day out

We were up and out early today to go to Glasgow. Susie and the girls to do some shopping and Harvie and I to the Riverside Museum: Scotland's Museum of Transport and Travel. We tried out a few modes getting there including taxi, train, subway and finally the Clyde Ferry from Govan to the museum itself, also home to a tall ship.

Costing £74million and designed by Zaha Hadid, this spectacular building was opened in June. more here It is packed with things to provoke nostalgia in all the grown ups and awe and excitement in those a little younger. Harvie's highlight was the recreated street with shops and old-style subway station. You can't help but lament the lost shipbuilding when you see the models of all the great liners and merchant ships built on the Clyde. It is full of great touches and Harvie has already asked if he can go back.

We then met up with Susie and the girls and had lunch at Pizza Express with Lucy, a friend we haven't seen for years. All said, a pretty good day.
