What are you looking at????

It was a good bird day today - the day started with a small group of house finches at the feeder outside my office window. I've never seen the males before, with their beautiful red plumage! The morning continued with a cardinal (camera not handy) and a beautiful American robin (still no camera handy, darn!) And, of course the titmice, nuthatches and chickadees were everywhere.

The scene stealers today, though, were the jays. They LOVE peanuts and this one was determined to get as many in his mouth/gullet as possible. He was freaked out by me and the camera, but greed overcame fear as he sat there and loaded up. He made lift off with three peanuts crammed in his mouth. Prior to the gluttony, he posed against the fall foliage , showing off his colors. He also had quite a lot to say about everything.

I hope you aren't tiring of the blue jays, because I suspect there will be more of them in the days ahead...
