Arcadian Delights.

A lovely day in the country. Today we visited Penicuik House which is being renovated by the local community.

Built around 1699, the grounds around the house are truly amazing. The whole landscape was deliberately designed, nothing was left to chance, every tree, every field edging, the lake, the church, the model village were all created to sit in an idealised environment.

I can't imagine what it must have been like to live there in it's heyday and it's only 10 miles from the city centre.
