Duchess Jean, raising the Gordon Highlanders

First visit to Gordon Highlanders Museum and kids behaved (historic day indeed).

The Veteran - and very dapper - volunteer staff certainly bring history to life - they were there during the regiments recent history and battles.

Renowned beauty, Duchess Jean, helped her husband raise the first regiment over 200 years ago, by visiting market towns and offering a kiss for those who signed up. Sadly her marriage was not thought to be a happy union but i like to think she stayed feisty throughout her life. She was fiercly loyal and protective of her children, as i'm sure they were of her in her later years.

Tess is trying on the formal dress headgear in this shot. She brought the lighter side to the museum visit, while the armoury room was very unsettling.
