A moment in time

Chatelherault

Was out walking today with the Third Wednesday girls......and Willie..... we walked along the River Avon to Chatelherault.

Chatelherault was the hunting lodge of the Dukes of Hamilton. It was situated across the deer park from Hamilton Palace (now demolished due to mine workings). You can imagine what it was once like, to stand here and look across towards the Palace and the Mauseleum of the Hamiltons.
The hunting lodge has been restored, and is now used for conferences, weddings etc.

It was a beautiful sunny day, although cold, particularly out of the sun. We looked out for Kingfishers but had no luck in spotting them, but did see several herons. At the hunting lodge we had a spot of lunch in the cafe, before having a look around and then heading back to Hamilton and the bus home. A great day out.
