Grizzly Bear

Our first sighting of a magnificent grizzly bear hunting for salmon in the wilderness of British Columbia, Canada.

It was an awesome moment. The bear was only the width of a small river away (c30 yards). And understandably we were very quiet, very nervous and very excited. This bear was patrolling its territory - free to roam.

We were in a party of four and our guide was superb at marshalling us to safe places to watch the bears. Having arrived hoping to see maybe one grizzly or black bear during our short stay, we were over the moon to have had nine grizzly bear sightings on the first day alone. Wow! It was an unforgettable experience.

The photos were a wee bit wobbly - mostly down to camera shake at the excitement of being so close to such awesome creatures.
