Analogue transmission
Here's a portrait of one of the lesser known stars of 80s popular music. One third of the original line-up of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) - it's Winston the 4-track TEAC tape machine! Rather more charismatic than his bandmates Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys to my mind. Or am I being harsh?!
Named after Winston Smith, the protagonist of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (my second blip reference to Orwell in a week!), Winston has now retired from the stage and studio and can be seen on display at Liverpool Museum.
