Cold snap

Less than two weeks after the Summer paid another visit, Winter has booted it out of the way and persuaded Autumn to take a break. It was bloody freezing today and our fancy new central heating system seems not to have noticed and although it was happy to give us hot water, it was refusing to engage in the diversity expected of it to heat the radiators.

Part of our system was a weather compensation sensor that is aimed at sensing when it is cold and ensures that the heating keeps the hotter to avoid waiting for the temperature to drop to the lower level of the thermostat setting before it kicks in. Until now there was nothing to compare but now that the weather has turned hideously cold, the system will not let us have both hot water and a warm home at the same time.

Fortunately, that gave us the perfect excuse to use the lovely new fire in the lounge so every cloud has a silver lining!
