Day thirty-eight: birds of a feather
Today I went to Jackson to give a poster presentation. I essentially had to rewrite the whole poster on Friday and this past weekend. I learned a lot of what not to do (too much text = a bad thing!).
I had a number of people who were really helpful from the very beginning through the very end. Yesterday I left at 4:10 with the handouts and poster. They were all really quite grand, imho.
Today, I had a number of people from work who stopped by my poster session. It was at a super inconvenient time (1-2, which is when EVERYone was eating lunch), yet people ate hurriedly or left early to come see my poster. One colleague didn't attend but gave me a phone call after to see how it went. Others texted me and Facebooked me well wishes too.
One of my colleagues said she stopped by, "to show [me] some love." It made me grin ear to ear. :) One of my neighbors had a hot meal waiting for me when I came home and wanted to hear all about the day.
It was quite cold today. It no longer felt like summer or fall, but actually like a chilly winter. As I was driving out of Jackson at the end of the day, I saw all these birds huddled together on the wire. It reminded me of how lucky I am. I have terrific friends, excellent coworkers, and a wonderful family. Somehow we have come together, helped each other out, showed some love, and kept each other warm.
I am so thankful for all the birds in "my" flock.
