....that turns the cogs
That lowers the gate
That controls the water
On the river at Denford.
Talking to a lady working this lock this morning she said there are apparently only four manual wheels like this left - the are all run by electric now - particularly since one person had a heart attack and another broke an arm while turning a similar wheel. Hubby had a go - said it was very hard work much harder than the ordinary lock gates.
