Beautiful Stourhead gardens are just coming up to their peak of autumn brilliance. Spent an hour with an elderly lady who fell over in front of me, staunching her three awful gashes until the ambulance came from Salisbury (who said they had to be there in 7 minutes, it took nearly 3/4 hour) - sadly she's lost the use of one eye but I do so hope it is only temporary. My bag and trousers bear witness to the amount of blood she lost.
