Eager anticipation 2
I spent a very pleasant lunchtime by the pond in the nature reserve. This coot chick was paddling on his mum's tail feathers the entire time, shouting at her for food. It was very noisy. I blipped him and his fellow chicks back in April. There are only two chicks now, and this one is much smaller than the other. It's interesting that he has green-grey eyes while the adult has red eyes - they must grow into this fiery eye colour.
In the evening, I went to a work leaving do - the last of the people to have been made redundant at Christmas (she was asked to stay on six months to tie things up). It was very sad - an end of an era. However, there was a good turnout of present and ex-staff, and we had a good natter into the early hours.
Happy weekend!
