Thomas Hardy's desk

This is the desk from Hardy's study in his house at Max Gate outside Dorchester, which has been reconstructed in Dorset County Museum.

At this desk, with these pens, he wrote Tess of the D'Urbervilles, The Return of the Native and Jude the Obscure.

The museum has quite a lot of Hardy memorabilia incluuding this casket. Anyone recognise this seal?

I went to the museum mainly to see a travelling exhibition from the British Museum about Pharaohs of Egypt. The exhibition was good but sadly no photography in that part.
