Day 16. 365grateful. I passed!
I passed my Diploma in Metal Clay! Last night I spent all night in the B&B polishing the brooch with the mirror finish and adjusting five pairs of earring wires which had to be exactly the same.
The level 4 on the course is a teaching section. I wasn't worried about passing this as I have a PGCE and have been a full time teacher for years. I made a few basic mistakes but passed it OK. It was the other pieces that I needed to pass that concerned me. By the time it got to 4pm I was verging on a migraine having had a very quick bite for lunch as I was trying to get everything done. I had to solder a brooch pin. Soldering is not a big skill of mine! But I managed it and it didn't come off. Yay. My mirror finished brooch (you can just about see in the picture) finally passed after another hour and a half of polishing last night.
This diploma isn't easy to get and neither should it be. I have a real sense of achievement at having met all the criteria and passing and you wouldn't get that if you just got the certificate for turning up.
So today I am grateful for all my persistence and learning. I think I'll wait a few months before taking the final part of the higher diploma though!
The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it. Richard Bach

The 365 Grateful Project
In early 2008, in an effort to fight depression, Hailey Bartholomew started a year long photographic project which involved taking one Polaroid photo a day of something she felt grateful for.
I thought that this was such a fab idea I would do it as well. I have been blipping on and off recently but I lost my enthusiasm for it when I felt that every day was the same, always going to the same place. However, I think that documenting something I am grateful for each day gives it a different slant.
