Dockland summer

Last day of May equals first day of Summer. An absolutely glorious day! An absolutely lazy one, too. Most times, our holiday-weekend Music Group sessions tend to be poorly attended, they're hosted by our much-loved father figure, and they consist of watching an opera on DVD rather than our usual all-bring-something routine. Today's turnout was unusually big for the June weekend, though, so the session was one of our usual ones rather than a special. It was hugely enjoyable musically, everyone was in great form, the bright blue sky was visible above Tony's nicely tended little paved garden, the pint afterwards was very welcome, post-session chat was fun -- all in all, a perfect middle to a perfect day.

I stopped off in Dublin Docks again on the way home to savour the Maritime Festival once again. As expected, the buzz was much buzzier than yesterday, with crowds milling around, all the ships packed, and food, drink and other stalls really busy. I 'did' both sides of the river, finished up on the MV Cill Áirne, home to the Quay 16 restaurant and bar (must try the restaurant some time). It's a very pleasant place to lie back and enjoy a refreshing drink, and it was nicely relaxed and quiet after the hustle and bustle of the festival itself. I got back home around 8.00 pm and haven't done much since.

The forecast is good for tomorrow too. I'm full of best intentions to get out and about.
