walk to the fort...

an aimless walk through the streets alleys around the fort with a few friends. usual stuff...

got my hands on one of the unread national geographic magazines, Jan 2009 edition. one of the articles was on Fridtjof Nansen's arctic expedition. This has to be the big daddy of all adventure expeditions.

"It was an outlandish idea: freeze a wooden ship in the arctic ocean and ride the drifting ice across the north pole. When things didn't go according to plan, Fridtjof Nansen, a daring Norwegian scientist, set off by dogsled with one companion to go where no one had gone before."

How can one even think of something like this, let alone attempt! An incredible and highly recommended read. I would be surprised if no movie has been ever made on this.
