Thruxton Mass Attack Duathlon
Oh my goodness it was soooooo hard! I did it though and in a time I was very happy with.
Before I had to take 2 weeks off because of my shins I had hoped that I could maybe just about do it in under 2 hours so I was delighted to see the clock say 1:59:50 as I ran past it at the end.
It was a good race but very hard as it was on the Thruxton car race track which is very exposed to the wind. We were running and cycling into the wind a lot but never seemed to have it behind us! Also there wasn't much downhill (and it was into the wind at those points) so no chance to do any free wheeling at all.
We ran 1 and a bit laps (5km, 3 miles) then cycled 8 laps (30km, 18.5 miles) and then ran 1 and a bit laps again (I made that one 2.6 miles).
I got lapped several times by very fast men on bikes, some of them were wearing GBR tops and 2 were national champions according to a man I was running with.
Oh yes and there were planes taking off from the middle as we went round!
Now watching the Rugby Final and at the moment NZ aren't as far ahead as I think they should be. Come on NZ (even though the game finished hours ago)
I've back blipped for yesterday too.
