13 Planes Over Hochheim

A good Sunday.

One of the nice things about my travel card is that someone can travel free with me on weekends. OK only between here and Frankfurt but it's free. I'm in favour of free.

We had a plan to walk from Mainz Kastel and Hochheim alongside the river Main. And so we hopped the bus/train out to Mainz Kastel and headed out. It's quite a pretty walk to begin as we walked along the Rhein and then followed the Main. Alas after that it gets a bit boring. However, it was a nice walk in good sunshine. We saw a rather well camouflaged Heron, a very fun squirrel and loads of rabbits. Like loads of 'em. And of course, we saw today's Blip. Handsome thing. I especially like the pose.

And then we got to Hochheim. Hochheim Banhof really shouldn't be on your Places To Visit In Germany list. It is not pretty. Not in the slightest. And it's on the flight path into Frankfurt Airport. This means that a plane appears and makes a hellish amount of noise as it passes over on it's way to the airport. And just as that plane disappears with its attendant noise, another one takes its place. Constantly. Every minute of the day between 5 in the morning and 1 the following morning.

It would drive me nuts. Today's title was how long we were in Hochheim for - about 12 minutes. Schrecklich.
