Meet the newest addition at ZSL Whipsnade zoo. It is a male calf, yet to be named. We saw him today out with the family for a walk. Aziza, his Mum was keeping him safe walking him under her and between her legs.

Asian elephants gestation period is normally 22months, but this little baby sat tight for 700 days, nearly two years! But despite that he was the smallest elephant born at Whipsnade so far, at 104KG or nearly 16stone. Makes you realise how big the grown elephants are because he looks so small in comparison.

Cheetahs and the birds normally get the vote of Carys for best bit of the day, but today it was the elephants. I have to say I agree.
