Today we headed off for a weekend of downhill mountain bike racing, Joe's first, much anticipated, race. Practise only today in preparation for tomorrows event.
Gosh it is pretty scary as a parent to watch these racers fly over the jumps. Though I do remind myself that they have extraordinary skill and fearlessness.
I can see it is going to take a few races for me to come to grips with the sport but I wholeheartedly encourage Joe to enjoy it and I do try not to say "be careful"' all the time!
Overnight we camped in Brisbane Ranges National Park which is close to the race venue. We had quite a bit of rain. Thank goodness we brought the big tarp!
