Magnesium Well

Another of my well blips. There are 88 mineral wells in and around Harrogate, 36 of which are located in Valley Gardens (should keep me going for a while!)

The well here was discovered in the late 1800s and is known as the Old Magnesia Well Pump Room Building. Buildings around the wells allowed people to sit in comfort to 'take the waters', meaning drinking the strong and often smelly water to cure their ailments.

This building is tucked away and most people pass by. At the moment there is a local campaign to raise money in order to restore it to its' former glory.
