Magic Pipes
Russian gas pipes are above ground. More specifically, they tend to run along pavements at about knee height.
This is a particularly large one, complete with Blue-Peter-style insulation around. On either side there are step-ladders to allow people to climb over it and get to their houses.
But what I like best is that here, at a vehicle entrance to a side-street, they went for a magic trick, teleporting the gas from one red-and-yellow buffer to the next one, through the cars as they drive past. Often I've seen the pipes do a little arch over the site of a road entrance, but this is a new one.
