St Michael and All Angels

This is Macclesfield parish church. Note the sign on the railings for the Treacle Service. Macclesfield used to be known as treacle town because, long ago, a barrel of treacle rolled off a cart down the street . The resulting stickiness on the road gave the town the nicknane.
