John Peel Day.

Just grabbed a few relevant discs - obviously the Peel compilation, the astonishing Peel Sessions box set by The Fall who were John's favourite band and Transister Blast a box set of Xtc's BBC broadcasts.

I have very distinct memories of listening to Peel as a boy and discovering this world of music which just could not be heard anywhere else.

Xtc's unbelievable first session, which was broadcast on 25.09.77, was the first session I ever taped on my Pye mono tape recorder and I've never looked back.

No-one could ever match the contribution John Peel made to music.
