Tuesday: Lists, Lists and More Lists

A bit of a hasty blip today, I'm afraid, grabbed as I went into the building.  The blue sky didn't last long - today was one of those four seasons in one day that we seem to have in the UK.  Half an hour later we were having really heavy rain.

Today has been a day of working through long to-do lists.  This is my fifth overseas move coming up and I always feel that there are three stages:

1) Euphoria at getting the job and excitement about what lies ahead.  This is always in the very early stages when it is too early to really do anything practical;

2) The stage when complete hysteria sets in - when you realise the enormity of what lies ahead, all the stuff that needs to be sorted out, all the arrangements that need to be made, and you know that you are never going to be able to do it all.

3)  The final stages when resignation sets in.  You have done everything there is to do and it will either go smoothly or it will all fall apart - either way, there is nothing you can do about it.

I am currently at stage 2.  I am making lists upon lists and trying to work my way through what needs to be done.  To emphasise that point, here is my office, listing to one side......see what I did there?  Listing? Get it?
